Staying Present to Ourselves

Maybe We Don't HAVE to Run Away from Home

Transitions, both happy or sad, whether developing a new business, changing jobs, dealing with loss, caring for an ill family member--all of these challenge us in multiple ways. Underneath it all, the test is how to love ourselves, no matter what. In other words, how NOT to run away from "home"--or our essence, our True Selves.

But how do we do that? Stress piles upon stress and we often revert to what author Kishori Aird, in her amazing book, "Essence," calls our "default programming." Those are all the inner, negative ways we have of beating ourselves up, as we've often done, time and time again. (To order the Aird book, go to p. 2 of "I recommend" box on the right column and click on the title. Boyds Wellness Ctr gets a tiny piece of revenue from books ordered from our website link. But that's NOT why I recommend books or why I esp love this one!)

Just a week or so ago, I was feeling really good! Good about my blog, good about the last several clients who had come, both for Akashic readings and for some energy work.

An energy-healing client in California whom I'd helped over the phone emailed me afterward to ask, "WHAT DID YOU DO? I feel so great!"

But this week, I fell into my default programs and the glass became half-empty, the rose-colored glass evaporated. I was relentless in my self-critique: "You are failing miserably. Look at you! Maybe it's time to pack it in."

Sometimes when we fall into our own rabbit holes, it's because we've been following someone else's ideas of what we should do or who we are--or someone else's "frequency."

Standing With Our Essence

Physicists studying superstring theory say all matter, including our thoughts and the atoms in our body, vibrate at a certain speed or frequency.

Our essence is the Core frequency that distinguishes our deep and individual nature from everyone else on the planet.

And yet, we often are NOT aligned with our core frequency or essence. We have to make a conscious effort to be in alignment. We need to intend, even command, that the rest of ourselves align with this frequency and stay true to it. The results of doing this consistently may surprise you.

For example, a man had agreed to go on a cruise with his sister and elderly parents. This was his sister's idea. She really wanted to take the old folks to Europe while they could still travel. Still, as the time to leave drew closer, the man (we'll call him Tom) felt uneasy about it and realized he was just going along to please his sister. He talked with his mother and asked if she'd be OK with his NOT going. She said that was fine. In fact, she was delighted to have Tom keep an eye on her house while they were gone. Tom not only did that, but things fell into line to enable him to buy a condo with the money he would've spent on the cruise. The entire condo-finding and purchase all went like clockwork. Tom was thrilled! He traded the misery of doing something to please someone else into a "dream come true" instead.

When we align ourselves with the frequency of our essence--instead of trying to please others or criticizing ourselves at every turn- we can experience these kinds of perfect moments. Of course, we will also have periods of doubt and pain. But we need not become discouraged. Gradually, if we make it a habit to affirm, "I am now one with my Essence. I am vibrating at the most optimum frequency for ME," we will acquire the strength to carry on, even during the most difficult of circumstances.

And when we slip away from ourselves, all we need do is say,
"I command the energy of this despair and discouragement to optimize the frequency of my essence now and forever."
If negative, default programming, has been your "normal," acknowledge it, don't try to banish or change it. But ask it to find its place in the reflection of your core frequency, rather than being the dominant force.

Identifying with our essence, says Kishori Aird, helps us reconnect with our self-love. The more passionate we feel about our own frequency rate, the easier it will be to coexist with others who are vibrating at different rates.

Can we accept that we are unique, interesting, and truly distinctive individuals on this planet? And can we find our peace and balance aligned with this, our essence?
